About me

Rochelle Wright is a pianist, composer, and arranger.

Rochelle graduated from the University of Saskatchewan in 2026 with a Bachelor of Music Degree, Certificate in Jazz and Certificate in the Foundations of Drama. Throughout this time at the U of S, Rochelle performed with the University of Saskatchewan Wind Orchestra and Jazz Ensemble and worked as a sound designer and composer for the Greystone Theatre. Rochelle’s efforts were acknowledged through the 2026 Arthur Collingwood Prize in Music and University of Saskatchewan Film Society Prize.

In 2023, Rochelle completed their Associate of the Royal Conservatory of Toronto (ARCT) certificate in Piano Performance. Upon graduation, Rochelle was awarded a National Gold Medal from the Royal Conservatory of Music for achieving the highest marks in Music Theory out of the entire 2023 ARCT graduating class.

As a pianist, Rochelle is the leader of the Rochelle Wright Trio, a jazz combo that draws its inspiration from the rich history of jazz piano trios. With this group, Rochelle has performed across Western Canada, including shows in Calgary, Vancouver, and at the Sask Jazz Festival in Saskatoon. Rochelle continues to find her voice as an improviser, composer, and arranger through the music of this group.

Outside of the trio, Rochelle has performed as a pianist or accordionist with the Saskatoon Jazz Orchestra, Keegan Isaac's Itsy Bitsy Big Band, 1-800-POLKA, jazz combos, piano/accordion-fiddle duos, as well as a soloist and collaborative accompanist (with vocal, wind, brass, string, and percussion soloists). Rochelle has performed at the Saskatoon and Saskatchewan Music Festivals, The Bassment Jazz Club in Saskatoon, and as a background musician at weddings, conventions, and award ceremonies in Saskatoon.

 

Rochelle's compositional work has been featured at the Saskatoon Strata Festival of New Music.

Rochelle currently resides in rural Saskatchewan, working as a freelance performer, accompanist, and composer.
